Two questions come up every time: how many people need certificates, and which unit. The number comes from your own risk assessment rather than a single national figure, and for most office environments the unit is HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
There is no single number that applies to every workplace. The count depends on how many people are on site, the layout, how quickly emergency services could reach you and what the work actually involves — which is why it comes out of a risk assessment rather than a lookup table.
For a low-risk office the practical answer is usually more than one, so that leave and turnover do not leave you with none. Your WHS adviser or insurer can tell you what they expect for your site.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the usual choice: 3 hours, and it includes the CPR unit. Teams that run a childcare facility or a holiday program on site sometimes need HLTAID012 instead, which is the education and care unit.
If the office has a defibrillator, note that AED use is covered within the CPR unit, so a team holding HLTAID011 is already trained on it.
The most common mistake with team training is booking everyone into the same session. Three years later the whole team lapses in the same week, and you are back to a single large booking with nobody covered in the meantime.
Splitting the team across two or three dates costs the same and leaves you with staggered renewal. New starters then join the nearest cohort rather than triggering a whole-team rebook.
Our Parramatta venue is Suite 103, Level 1, 96 Phillip Street, in the Parramatta CBD — a short walk from Parramatta station and the light rail, which matters if your team is coming in from different directions. Students travel in from Harris Park, Westmead, Granville, Merrylands, Auburn, Rydalmere, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown and Ryde.
If you need to be invoiced rather than paying by card, or want a session arranged for your group, say so through the contact form and we will set it up. Each person still needs their own Unique Student Identifier before a certificate can be issued.
It comes from your own risk assessment — the number of workers, the site layout, how fast help could arrive and the nature of the work. There is no single national figure. Your WHS adviser can confirm what applies to your site.
